The 3rd edition of MERC’ARTE opens this Wednesday at LX Factory in Lisbon. Thirty creators from diverse fields have been invited to produce works at more affordable prices.
This exciting event will bring together some of the most talented creators from various disciplines, all under one roof. From painters and sculptors to photographers and designers, there is something for everyone at MERC’ART.
Ana Galvão of “Radio Renascença” received Alexandra Quadros, curator and founder of “Merc’art,” who presented this year’s edition and the concept of accessible art for all. Starting November 13th, 30 Portuguese and foreign painters, street artists, illustrators, photographers, and digital artists are at your fingertips in a single market. No more excuses for blank walls!
The newspaper “Oriente” was at Merc’arte and spoke with us about our presence at this exhibition and our digital art project. Here is a transcript of the original article.
“O Orientre esteve no Lx Factory para visitar o Merc’art 2018 que, na sua terceira edição, não para de surpreender os lisboetas. Este ano estão representados 30 artistas, dos mais conceituados às estrelas em ascensão. E por falar em ascensão, estivemos à conversa com a dupla Falcão Lucas, um digital art project que nasceu em Marvila, mais propriamente na Grafe Publicidade, e que no Merc’art apresentam um quadro que junta o 3D à identidade gráfica dos próprios artistas.
Apesar de já serem conhecidos internacionalmente, esta é a primeira vez que a dupla de portugueses expõe em Portugal. “Estamos muito felizes por mostrar o nosso trabalho pela primeira vez no nosso país e por isso quisemos que este fosse o retrato daquilo que gostamos e costumamos fazer”, afirmou Tânia Falcão. Mas embora esta seja a estreia portuguesa, a dupla tem diversos trabalhos e clientes de reconhecimento internacional: Maroon 5, KitKat, Paramount, FOX, Flux Pavilion, Neonmob, Republic Records, são apenas alguns deles. Em solo nacional, são conhecidos por trabalhos para a EDP, Montepio, Nos Alive e Intermarché.
Num quadro onde as cores saltam à vista, é impossível ficar indiferente à história que os artistas querem passar: “Agarrámos o nosso gosto em trabalhar arquitetura romana e retratámos um Deus romano, Janus (Deus do Princípio e do Fim) para retratar o novo princípio em Portugal”, explicou Luís Filipe Lucas.
Com uma identidade gráfica baseada em projetos 3D, o quadro que está presente no Merc’art representa todo o trabalho que têm produzido desde 2012. Na obra, depois de várias camadas, cores e tratamentos de luz, tudo mexe através de uma aplicação de smartphone. Parece impossível, mas está bem mais perto do que aquilo que imagina.
O melhor mesmo passar pelo Lx Factory até ao próximo dia 22 de dezembro. Aconselhamos ter em atenção a bateria do telemóvel e a biblioteca de fotografias e vídeos desocupada. Vai ter muito que fotografar!”
